Paraffin Wax

More info on Paraffin Wax

What is Paraffin Wax?

Paraffin wax is a colorless or white solid derived from petroleum, coal, or oil shale. It consists of hydrocarbon molecules and remains solid at room temperature, melting at around 37°C (99°F). This versatile material is widely used in industrial, commercial, and decorative applications. It is also a component of petroleum jelly, commonly known as Vaseline.

Paraffin Wax in Candle Making

Paraffin wax candles are highly versatile. Unlike other forms of wax, they don’t frost, creating a similar appearance for each use. Whether you’re making votives, pillar candles, or lively wax melts, paraffin is an excellent choice for consistent results.

For a smooth and even burn, paraffin wax is a great choice for candle production. It also blends well with other waxes, such as soy and coconut, for enhanced performance.

If you’re looking for a wax with a high scent throw, look no further than paraffin! It holds fragrance and color, so your candles perform until the last drop.

Properties and Benefits:

  • Excellent Fragrance and Color Retention: It holds scent well and can produce candles with vibrant colors.
  • Consistency and Purity: Fully refined paraffin waxes offer reliable performance in applications like candle making, where quality and consistency are essential.
  • Versatility: It can be used independently or blended with other waxes to achieve specific properties, such as improved burn time or texture.

Different Types of Paraffin Wax

We offer three types of paraffin candle wax, each with a different melt point. Check below for different use cases.

  • ProBlend 400 Paraffin Wax - Has a low melting point of around 124 degrees Fahrenheit. Low melt point paraffin waxes are soft and adhere well to jars or other containers. Best for a smooth, creamy, and opaque look!
  • ProBlend 450 Paraffin Wax - With a slightly higher melting point of 132 degrees Fahrenheit, our 450 Blend was designed for making tarts, pillars, and votive candles due to its more rigid structure. Its fragrance load is HIGH and uses up to 7% fragrance load.
  • ProBlend 550 Paraffin Wax - Our highest melting point paraffin wax. ProBlend 550’s melt point is between 138 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, making it ideal for cut and carve candles or any other candle type where holding its shape matters. A truly versatile option!
